Department: Design Engineering
Location: Irving, Texas
The goal of our Intern program is to develop future design engineering resources for our organization while providing support to our design work within our Engineering department. Under guidance of the senior engineering staff, the student will be assigned to a team associated with multiple ongoing design projects. Interns will work with the Engineering team to gain an understanding of BIM Standards and continued knowledge advancement of BIM software. Interns will be exposed to several phases of project design, including program development, systems design and coordination, and construction administration.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Our Intern for Design Engineering will be responsible for supporting the design and construction administration of various on-going projects. The ability to work through the interfaces of Revit are essential. You will contribute to the development of construction document specifications and designs through multiple project phases including entry level construction administration of on-going projects, perform system and material research, assistance in the quality control of project deliverables, and help establish design standards to be used on future projects. Interns will work directly under Design Engineers and can learn the baggage industry. Interns may be expected to work with minimal supervision on basic design components of Sheet development (dimensioning, IDing, Sheet Creation).
- Exceptional communication skills required
- General understanding of construction documentation preferred
- General understanding of computer networks and telecommunications systems preferred
- Good documentation skills
- Strong general computer skills
- Familiarity with MS Office products required
- Exposure to Computer-aided Design software platforms (Revit required, AutoCAD preferred)
Must be currently enrolled as a student majoring in Engineering at an accredited university. Must have completed freshman year. Third/Fourth year students preferred.
